Course Description
A Paradigm Shift in DEI: A Systems Approach to Creating Equity & Belonging is a 6-hour course consisting of six modules designed to be completed at your own pace. This course is ideal for existing leaders, emerging leaders, all human resource professionals, and anyone interested in deepening their understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in the workplace. This course explores the pitfalls of diversity and inclusion programs and why, after six decades, these programs have failed to bring equity and belonging to the workplace. This course will help participants understand how organizational systems operate and why understanding systems is imperative to organizational change. Participants will learn a brief overview of diversity and inclusion programs and why, from a systems-perspective, they have failed to bring equity and belonging to the workplace. This course explores the importance of cultural competency and cultural intelligence as it relates to the DEIB field and offers a blueprint for creating intentional organizational change. Participants will learn: The importance of self-awareness as a changemaker, specifically regarding one’s access to power and privilege The role of equity and belonging in workplace DEI initiatives The role of cultural competency and cultural intelligence in DEIB work A blueprint for creating equity and belonging in the workplace
